SCP Remix Contest
Have you ever noticed the little box at the bottom of the sidepanel?

This strip is published under a Creative Commons license. You are free to modify it and create derivative works (with a couple of conditions). Legally, there’s nothing stopping you from re-creating the entire archives and pasting your own head onto all of the robots. In fact, it’s encouraged.
To celebrate the upcoming book launch, we’re going to have a contest!
Have you ever read an SCP strip and thought “I can do better than that”? Maybe you have an idea for a better punchline. Or maybe you could make it funnier by redrawing all of the panels in crayon. Or maybe you could combine panels from different strips to make something completely new.
Now is your chance! Make an SCP remix, and post it in the comments to this post before the cutoff date on March 24. You can do whatever you want with the remix, as long as you follow these simple rules:
1. Don’t violate someone else’s copyright.
2. Keep it moderately “Safe For Work”, or at least in line with the rest of the content on the site.
At the cutoff date, I’ll post a week-long poll to pick the winner. The top three entries will be featured in a blog post. The author of the winning entry will get a FREE signed copy of the book!

If you’re trying to match the font, on most strips it’s Digitalstrip from Blambot.com. Some of the older strips use Webletterer from the same site. I think that the really old ones are in comic sans (shudder!).

Are we allowed to have more than one entry? If so, I made another one (although it’s even less funny than the first.)

I have some students who might be interested in this contest. I don’t think I’ll have anything before March 24, but I’ll send you what they create.

I have a lot of experience in splicing, so if we are indeed limited to one entry, I might as well put up my favorite one first. (Sorry it’s so long.)
If you realize that it all comes back to robot dinosaurs (what a concept!), great job. If you read into it any deeper than that, you’re thinking too hard.

Another “god-awful” one, but based on a true story. I had just finished reading a right –> left japanese comic (yes, manga) and my brain was still stuck in opposite-mode when I checked SCP to read this strip. I found it odd yet strangely hilarious. Must’ve been a minute before I worked out my mistake and got the joke as it was intended: two laughs for the price of one strip!

hmm, I reckon Karl has put the most effort into this and his “monkeys” comic is the best one there along with David’s unicorn one. I vote for Karl.
March 25th, 2008 at 4:42 pm
Well, I would personally vote for Austins. He did not even add new lines. Genius!

Time’s up! Pencils down! I’ll make the judging poll tomorrow after I post the next comic!
March 30th, 2008 at 11:43 am
Too bad the contest is already over, it all happened so fast.
I think the idea of the current leader in the polls (Austin S) is good, but I really have to post my take on that one because in my humble opinion panel four is quite redundant apart from that it makes no scientific (even pseudo-scientific) sense. Then there were some minor changes, to restore some continuity between panel two and three.
My two cents, please don’t hate me.

Aw yeah! Eighth place, suckaz! Eat it!!!
Kidding. The contest was fun, and I have to give a shout-out to all nine of the peeps who voted me up to eighth! I’d also like to thank my manager, my pit crew, my filming crew, the second unit in Greece, my lovely wife, and the Lord Jesus Christ. Remember kids! Stay in school and don’t do drugs! Peace! Don’t hate me, Kanye!
