Back to the sharp wit and intelligence this comic I have happily found here on a regular basis.
February 25th, 2008 at 7:29 pm
Happy 200th comic.

Best SCP ever

Wait, the Earth is casting a shadow on the sun?
February 25th, 2008 at 9:17 pm
Yeah, I knew the shadow was illogical when I put it in, but it looked so much better with it!
February 25th, 2008 at 9:55 pm
At least they lived happily ever after with infinite energy… until they crashed into the sun and all burned to death in agony.
February 25th, 2008 at 10:47 pm
I’ve always imagined it’d be something like that.
‘Look at my GREAT INVENTION! … Unfortunately, it will cause us all to die a fiery, and painful death’ (:
…
Though, they’d be long dead before they actually HIT the sun, so they shouldn’t be suffering too much anymore. (I agree, shadow is illogical, but makes it prettier.)
February 25th, 2008 at 11:28 pm
It’s not a shadow. It’s a cold spot from the earth lowering the temperature on that area of the sun, causing a dark spot on the surface.
Yay! Burning!

Awesome punchline. And I mean that like “punch-you-in-the-face” line.
February 26th, 2008 at 12:30 am
Great comic… although my first impression was that it reads exactly like a somewhat wordy PBF. Perhaps that’s a compliment?
February 26th, 2008 at 3:51 am
Hee Hee, sort of a metaphor for the whole global warming crisis? Or am I just reading far too much into it? Good stuff though
February 26th, 2008 at 3:56 am
Also reminds me of the book “The Gods Themselves…” by Isaac Asimov. That involves transfer of energy from one dimension to another, slowly weakening the atomic bonds, which will eventually make the all the suns in the universe explode, killing everyone. Won’t tell you whether or not they manage to solve the crisis, you’ll just have to read it yourself!

Am I the only one troubled by the fact that as the Earth’s solar orbit gradually decayed, the oceans would boil? You should really just have a brown sphere colliding with the Sun. And isn’t the Earth-Sun size ratio in this comic is way off-kilter?
Funny nonetheless.

Please, George, don’t be a smart-ass, nobody likes them.
Thank you very much
February 26th, 2008 at 5:31 am
C’mon George. Yes, these things are inaccurate, but it’s all in service of the joke. If it were a brown ball, the reader might not get it was supposed to be Earth, for example.
February 26th, 2008 at 6:58 am
For those who may be interested, the Earth’s orbit is decaying… but it’s decaying outwards. Because the Sun is spewing out so much energy into space it is losing mass in the process. That means it has less of a pull on the Earth, and the years are going to get VERY (very very very etc.) gradually longer. Source: http://space.newscientist.com/article/dn13286-astronomical-unit-may-need-to-be-redefined.html
Also: I think I can explain the dark patch. That is where the moon fell into the sun, preceding the Earth, thus COOLING the surface, making it radiate less light. *nods*
Also also: If you want to worry about decaying orbits, worry about the moon, it will eventually land into the Earth. :O
February 26th, 2008 at 7:09 am
Umm… The moon is slowly *increasing* its distance from the earth.
February 26th, 2008 at 8:26 am
Way to go Zimmerman, first it was the maxscript bugs, now this. Could it get any worse? Err… probably not actually. Great comic.

George’s comment reminds me of this http://www.noob.us/humor/robot-chicken-its-the-law-asshole/

nice boobs on the camera chick
February 26th, 2008 at 10:38 am
That’s the kind of comics I loke to see! Destuction of the earth, plus a thing only nerds will know what is (as in myself for instance). Five stars from Denmark!
February 26th, 2008 at 1:00 pm
Muley Bob gets off to robot humour comics with virtually no nudity or sexual subtext?
February 26th, 2008 at 1:18 pm
Hey hey wait a minute. Its not like I’m a robophile or Japanesse or something. I’m just saying they are some nicely drawn boobs. You got a problem with boobs, Mack?
February 26th, 2008 at 1:50 pm
One of the best , simple and funny . Like the older comics from few months ! Keep up the good work!
February 26th, 2008 at 1:57 pm
Sorry Muley Bob, they ent even that great tits. For one thing the point outwards, and she clearly isn’t even wearing a bra. I’ve seen much sexier cartoon breasts.
February 26th, 2008 at 5:06 pm
I agree Muley Bob. Nice boobs on the camera chick.
February 26th, 2008 at 5:51 pm
Thanks Tim. Jez the fact that they are both large, perky and unfettered by undergarments makes them all the more attractive. She is a real cartoon woman, just trying to earn a living. Not some superbra wearing superskank. Cut the girl some slack.
February 27th, 2008 at 12:20 am
Lol, each to his own I guess. Difference’s make the world turn round, which is certainly better than crashing into a the sun killing everyone in a firey apocalypse.
March 2nd, 2008 at 1:26 pm
Fantastic! This one is so good,it’ll be StumbleUpon-ed!
March 29th, 2008 at 11:55 am
Southland… Tales?
March 29th, 2008 at 7:49 pm
I’m with Muley Bob. Them some nice camerawoman titties.
And yeah, that’s exactly why, too.
May 9th, 2008 at 9:26 pm
This reminds me of “Signal to Noise” by Eric Nylund, where they discover that an alien technology allowing instant transportation actually works by draining the energy of the Earth’s rotation.
btw, love the comic!

I have always said this about the moon when people bring up using tides for energy. and the looks on their faces like “oh crap….”
July 20th, 2008 at 4:22 am
I saw this as similar to individual perceptions on energy use. Sure one person would make a neglible mark on the a situation however each person (every vote counts right?) reacting the same way as the 1st bright spark would doom us all. The lifestyle loss for little percieved gain goes against our selfish ways.

Epic Lulz! This was the best one yet…I guess I can relate to it because I’m a mechanical engineering major =]
