Actually nearly all ants are female. If the colony was healthy and possesed of any drones then one of the workers could become the new queen.

Ya really guys. Shouldn’t overthink things so much.
This is a great example of the not-very-well-thought-out revolution. Kind of Che-Guevara ish. Nice.
