This is absolutely my favorite strip of them all. I’m a big fan of SCP, and this one is just special… I’ve always wanted to say it, but never had a better avenue to do so: You are the best! :D

  2. concrete

damn… that’s just so damn good..

  3. KingTaco

I come back to this comic every few months or so. It is depressing and wonderful. A masterpiece in and of itself.

    great work. perfect.

I have never left a post on any webcomic before, not even the ones I read daily. This… Is… BRILLIANT!
I am so glad I found your strip!

  7. Calilac

This one sent my imagination off and away for a few minutes. “Brilliant” is right.

  8. Matt

    Funny …….cuz it’s true.

  9. Kiirani

True? There are boxes like this in the real world ?

I’d like to see this as a (very) short film… Moody and atmospheric, with that guy from american beauty doing the voiceover.

  10. Matt

Of course its true. Just that in real life the “boxes” aren’t so obvious.

  11. Silfedac

I’d have to say that either this or the one with the dragonfly cameras is my favorite.

  12. The False Cognate

This reminds me of “A Softer World”
    pretty genius though, kudos.

  13. Tim

This is my favorite SCP strip. Every word is exactly the right one, and the concept is just… wow. I’d be poorer for not having read this strip.

  14. Buddhaofwar

reminds me a bit of ‘A Brave New World’ by Aldous Huxley. That baby is definitely an Alpha… maybe a Beta.

  15. Smith

I like how it says “They tell lies, they tell beautiful lies” in the same panel with the baby being told it is a “smart baby” and that it will “grow up to do important things.”

  16. Bob

    Smith:Yeah…?

  17. Nemo

Reminds of the Parking Lot is Full. Which is a good thing.

  18. Crusader1089

I can’t get the “They Tell lies, they tell beautiful lies…” out of my head!
    Its just so well written.

  19. Chance

I just want to express my love for this strip- the last panel is just so powerful. Brilliant, good sir. Just brilliant.

The boxes are a representation of the internal critic in all of us. The voice that punishes us the voice that holds us back, the one that lies to us so that we may never wake up from the comforting autonomous lives we like to think we live.

  21. Sarah

    Is it called “The Rationalizer?”

  22. Stefei

i think it is more like a portable tv… telling you what to think, and so on. i have an inherent dislike of tv and tv programs for just this reason…

  23. Mephisto

Reading these through the archives for a while and this comic is just awe inspiring.

  24. Ivar

    Chilling, touching, inspiring

  25. ollie

came here after reading ‘today’s’ strip, following a comment. Yep, it’s a good strip. The comments left here are pretty good, too.

  26. ANT

I especially like the move from plain white type in white boxes to white type over the black background.

  27. nameless

this is brilliant. reminded me alot of 1984 and this one graphic novel that i read a while ago having to do with people carrying around a box with them similar to this radio that started replacing their intelligence slowly.

    very brilliant and very powerful

  28. David

This has and always will be my fav. Been here since strip 7, read all of them since, this is still the best, no contest.
