    War is peace, right?

  2. Teh Lan

Wow. I need to stop and think about my life now. I’ll read the rest of these comics later.

It’s like that game, Ys 2.

  4. Matt

One way to fight an economic depression….Seems a waste of ammo though.

    And cardboard.

I like your take of that segment from “Memories”
    You really did it justice!

  6. Foolish Earthling

On the other side of the mountain lies a vast terrorist network, or possibly communists. Whatever the case, they have an army of flying monkies commanded by the Easter Bunny. They hate you for your awesomeness, and they live on hatred.

  7. Laser Potato

The real reason nobody’s ever found Laputa.

  8. Trance

I believe the lack of an explosion when the shell impacts something would kind of ruin this deception.

To Matt: It’s not really a waste when you think about it. Being as they are a floating rock with life on it, I’m guessing they have no enemies, outside of the ones they create. It’s despotism 101: the best way to unite a people is against something else. And as far as the economy is concerned, the best thing to create is arms, they are expensive, short shelf life, and can only be used once. What terrifies me are the natural resources required to make them. Is that why they’re on a rock? have they mined away anything else that could be useful?

Or… you know. It could just be a complex metaphor.

i know this is really irrelevant
but the gravitational attraction of that rock would be funny
the ppl seem to be fine so
i would guess its gravitational acceleration would be 9.8 m/s just like here
so the shell would go right round it and hit the buildings =P
    haha
=D just a silly little thing hehehe

    anyway
    loved it
    very clever

  12. Bang On

Bango, if the acceleration due to gravity is the same on that rock as on the earth, that means that the shell will fall at the same speed as it would on earth. So, no, it wouldn’t go around and hit the buildings behind them.

But yes, the comic is quite clever.

pretty clever yeah. shows the uselessness of declaring war on a TACTICAL STRATEGY i.e. terrorism, something which has never, ever been done before in military history.

terrorists have been around for thousands of years - terrorism is the strategy of attacking innocents to achieve political ends. people accepted it and mostly did not allow it to affect their lives. but when the USA was attacked they decided to declare war on this tactic.

I suppose it’s really saying that human only feel safe when they’re defending themselves, except for the ones who can be sure of safety.

  15. Chris Van Morris

    poignant

Think of it this way: Without some sense of purpose, that isolated city would lose all hope and decay. Is it better to live a lie than know the truth and despair?
